Desktop widgets and icons bug macOS Sonoma M1 Macbook Air

On my M1 Macbook Air on macos Sonoma 14.1.2, when I switch to the desktop with the three finger swipe, the widgets take roughly 1 second to appear, and my desktop icons take the same amount of time to disappear, I have attached a gif below of a screen recording of the behaviour. This behaviour gets very annoying, instead I would expect the widgets to already be there on the desktop as I am swiping over, and the desktop icons to remain hidden instead of being visible and taking a second to disappear.

Due to this issue I am considering removing my desktop widgets and disabling the hiding desktop items feature which is a shame as I otherwise enjoy both of these features.
