I can’t add a new payment method, and I can’t add money to the gift card I already have, I’m not able to do anything

Im trying to get iCloud + but it won’t accept any credit or debit card, its says “your payment method was declined”. I also tried adding money to a gift card I have but it won’t let me either, nor discard de gift card and add a new payment method. I don’t know what else to do.

Troubleshooting Adding Method of Payment:

You need to have a Method of Payment assigned to you Apple Account in order to add a gift card. The sis because even Free Apps have the option to purchase items form within them.


A. Refer to these Two Links:

B. For Financial Assistance, Contact Apple Store Support:

You need to contact Apple Support Directly. This is a User-to-User forum. We are all volunteers. So, as you may suspect, no one here has access to that information — and that is a good thing, BTW. That’s why for Financial Assistance, you need to contact Apple Support. They’ll see what’s going on and will run you through the fix.

Apple Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there, as necessary
  • Why the Wait:
  • Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

I just posted a similar question it seems other than I was able to add the apple gift card I purchased from a store front. It also shows that my apple balance is $45.00 my problem comes into play when I try to make an in app purchase and it redirects me to a pop up saying that they couldn’t charge any of my payment methods I have on file, that I need to view my payment methods. I only have the apple balance ($45.00) with no debit/credit cards linked to my account. It is like it’s insisting I add a form of pay! I’ve made a number of the same type of purchases regularly the same type of way through the same app with absolutely no issues !
