Importing Audio into Logic

After importing an mpeg file into Logic (.m4A) audio is sped up. Checked the sample rate and it's ok (44.1). Pitch also hasn't changed, it's just way too fast

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.7

Thanks, unfortunately there's no TEMPO to be found after right clicking. I found REMOVE TEMPO INFORMATION under Edit but still no change.

Edit: Found the mistake: I dragged and dropped the audio file into an audio track. Apparently Logic doesn't like that. Using File>Import>AudioFile.. did it.

When you import an audio file, Logic might ask if you want the audio's tempo to match the project, or have the project's tempo match the audio. I think it might also say ignore.

Anyway, your clip was probably at a lower tempo, say 90 bpm. but your project is at 150bpm so Logic has sped up the tempo to match the project. It is easily fixed.

Right click on the audio region and go down to TEMPO and then select REMOVE TEMPO INFORMATION.

This should restore the original speed of the audio region.

There is a bug in certain old logic versions when importing mp3 files. Convert your mp3 into an uncompressed format with another software before importing in logic.

good to know. I've dropped mp3 files with no problem. .m4a apparently needs a different method.
