Apple TV+ subscription

I have just set up a new 4k tv box my 1st one, when it had finished it went to a screen showing a tv show on apple tv, not being familiar with the remote I tried to get to the home screen and somehow purchased a 1 month subscription to apple tv. how do I cancel this as I did not want to do this yet, the only option shown is to cancel the ongoing subscription which I have done. If its this easy to make a payment on this device I'll return it and carry on with my Amazon fire tv box.

It would have asked for conformation and then for the password for your Apple ID account (or mobile confirmation through iPhone), before activating any subscription. All that just to prevent accidental subscribing.

There is a setting to not ask for the password for purchases, but it is off by default, and requires the password to activate that. All very intentional from a user’s perspective.


Apple TV+ starts with a 7 day free trial for regular new subscribers. Apple TV+ may offer a 3 months free trial to qualifying customers. There is no such thing as a 1 month subscription purchase, although it may say subscriptions with monthly fees (after any optional trial if applicable) have a “1 month” periodicity. If you have tried Apple TV+ before, then it would start with this month’s fee in advance for the upcoming ~30 days. Most subscriptions auto-renew until canceled. If you cancel during a trial (at least 24 hours before renewal), then no fees will be charged.

Incorrect. As I said I just purchased the box and have never used one before, when set up was complete via my ipad it went to a screen showing the lovely Hannah Waddington with a button to watch now, Having only just set this up I tried to scroll down like on my fire tv stick but it didn't move I tried again pushing the home button and a message came to watch now, checked and my account says 1 month starting 2/12 then £8.99 per month on 2/01, no messages just robbed by apple because I have an account with them. PS couldn't see any 7 day trails or 3 months free on this brand new box only Hannah Waddington :)
