Pull down search not working on iPhone

just did it and it fixed it.

I now get results when I search in the search bar

We are telling you when we tap the search oval it doesn’t work. We can get to the pull down screen with the search oval. Sometimes the keyboard won’t appear, and sometimes when we type in a work to search nothing happens. The issue isn’t getting to that function, the function itself is not working. I posted an example image. I typed Facebook and Facebook is not appearing even though I have the app. This happens all the time. Most of the time, the keyboard won’t appear.

Mine works 90% of the time, but 10% of the time is enough to be very frustrating. Especially since it seems to be yet another known issue that Apple isn’t going to do anything about or communicate with their customers about.

What is the search oval all I even know about is the pull down? I’m so annoyed. I shouldn’t have to figure out a different way to use my phone after having this option available to me for years. Why isn’t it working? Like just to search for the App Store I put and nothing comes up. It’s crazy. Just the eight things I always have nothing new anymore.

I'm also noticing the same issue now with my text messages. When I search for a name from the search bar in texts the most recent text with that person's name would come up and now my search bar for texts don't turn up any useful hits/ information.

I just updated my iPhone 16 pro max with the iOS 18.2 and now when I swipe down in the middle all the app icons are gone. I took a screenshot of what I’m talking about. I use to see my favorite apps there. Please help

same issue here. oh, Apple. talk about the ultimate irony.

as a long time fan of all things Apple ('97 beige G3 desktop represent!) this sort of thing is frustrating and disappointing. God aka Steve Jobs would not approve (RIP Mr. Jobs, you are missed).

I found the exact opposite. I never saw this issue on 17.6.x.

As soon as I updated to 18.2.1 earlier this month, I started to see this issue.

I’m having the same problem with the search function in the App Store, the screen goes to “unable to connect”. What’s the problem and why hasn’t this been corrected yet. It appears that several people are having the same issue and as of yet there is no resolution?

I am having the same issue for a month or more. Hoped the most recent update will fix. Didn’t fix it.

Mine is doing the same. When I click the Search oval the keyboard doesn't pop up, so I am unable to search.
