If I purchase an apple tv box, is the cost of apple tv+ still 9.99$ or do I get some sort of disscount?

You may qualify for a three-month free trial of Apple TV+ after buying the unit. If not, or after it ends, the price will be the same.

There is no discount for the service with the Apple TV box other than the free trial period.
