Can I run Apple Pages from a thumb drive or any external drive?

Hello,

The iMacs at my university library do not have Pages installed for some reason. Is there a way to put the Pages program/application on a thumb drive or any external drive, so I can open, work on, and save my Pages docs at the library?

Thank you!

It will depend on how your university library's Macs are administered/protected and whether you somehow managed to get a version of Pages that is compatible with the version of macOS and the associated operating system frameworks for which it depends.

You should probably use MS Word and save the .docx to a thumb drive and open that in Pages when you are back at your Mac.

If it is the right version of Pages for the Library's Mac operating system, then it would be a drag/drop exercise from your /Applications folder onto the USB stick. But as I mentioned, not just any Pages version will do depending on the Mac operating sywstem at the library. Apple does not keep a download repository of all previous Pages full installers for you to just download at will either.
