MacBook battery swelling

I have a 2017 MacBook Pro that I haven’t used for several months. I took it out today only to find that the bottom was bulging and it wasn’t closing properly. There was an opening at the bottom so I stuck a screwdriver in it thinking maybe something popped out of place and I could push it down. I ended up smelling a weird smell and popping something, but it worked and my MacBook was back to normal, no bulge or anything. I later Found out that I had an inflated battery and I accidentally popped it. My question is: is my MacBook dangerous to use or did I really just somehow fix the inflated battery and it’s fine to use?

no, you didn't fix anything by "popping" the battery. you've likely made things much worse. there are toxic and corrosive chemicals inside a MacBook battery. you should immediately stop using it and bring it to an Apple Store or an AASP as soon as possible to have it evaluated.
