I have accidently 'replaced' a voice memo -instead of pressing 'keep both' about 2 hours ago from my Iphone! How can I get it back? Surely it can done?

I have a Windows 10 laptop where I can see my voice memos added to. Pressing ctl Z does nothing nowadays...

Also UNBELEIVABLY My voice memos were not clicked yes to automatically synch with the cloud!

For some reason (obv good at the time!) I turned it off!

Windows, Windows 10

So today -when it asks as it often does, 'An older item named '*' already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the new one you're copying?', I have always clicked on 'Keep both'
This time I mistakenly pressed 'Replace'. (My clumsy fingers/mind! but.. it is also not good!:) It is at times like this, when we ask why the **** has it not got a 'are you sure you want to delete this file?' -like everything else does!

You were given a warning. You were asked if you wanted to overwrite the previous file, and you said yes. This is how replacing one file with another has worked since I've had computers. Unless you have a Windows backup that contains the older file, it is gone.

Sorry, I thought I was being clear... Perhaps not...

No... I am -as Apple advised me to, -as the old way doesn't work, meticulously 'sharing' the voice memos to the Icloud Drive on my Windows laptop before deleting them from the phone!

This has been successful... that is... up until today!

And this can happen, if we had a young baby, or a dog, could very easily have disrupted clicking on the right one!

Hundreds/thousands of people at least would have had this happen to them!

I think you are right. From talking with Apple, I am not sure I am able to get it back at all!

But this is insane, no? When we cannot undo a fatal error like that-with today's technology!

Anyone knowing anything to the contrary, please let me know!

Cheers!

Hmmm, I find this answer rather lacks empathy!
So you have never deleted something by accident, or never pressed the wrong button

I absolutely have, more times than I care to admit. I just don't blame anyone else for my mistakes.

I am afraid it occasionally happens... I have just made one mistake in about 500 times; I am not a robot!
But everyone (who this has happened to) seems to agree that there should be an 'are you sure...? question!

You were asked an "Are you sure" question. And you said yes. Sometimes we click buttons without really reading what's on the screen. It happens to all of us. But, how many levels of warning do you think would stop that? If, everytime you saved something or deleted something and you got two or more warnings, don't you think it's likely that you'd started ignoring them because they slowed you down?

Voice memos just have that light 'replace' button millimetres away from 'keep both' There is just one question, no 'are you sure?'. Windows always has this safeguard!

I have used it again since, and I note how it is not very satisfactory!

Anyway, it might a really important, valuable voice memo, or just a less-important one; I will never know!

We just need to have more security for our important stuff!

Thousands would agree with me re voice memos!
