How to delete one member of a RAID set with Disk Utility?

I'm running Sonoma 14.1. I have a three disk mirrored RAID set. I want to remove one of the disks from the set and use it for Time Machine. I've read all the online instructions for doing this. They conclude by saying to "click the remove button". What/where is a remove button? I'm assuming they mean inside of disk utility. I don't see anywhere that says it's a remove button. Thanks for assistance!

As for removing one of the 3 disks in your mirrored RAID setup, use Disk Utility.

  1. Back up any important files - don't ignore this step!
  2. In Disk Utility, select the mirrored RAID disk set in the sidebar.
  3. Select the disk member that you want to delete from the set.
  4. Click the Remove button (it looks like a minus sign)
  5. Click Remove.

Doing this is not supposed to endanger any data on any of the disks, but don't take chances. Make a backup first.

Also, a TM disk should be used exclusively for TM, otherwise you can run into problems. Don't mix it with RAID.
