Hi, Pandakoji, could you give us some more info on your Mac mini and the monitor in question, please?

Apple has made so many different models over the years.... anyways, just a quick note: HDMI and most video connections are not hot-swappable, if you want to make, break or change a connection, both source (in this case, the Mac Mini) and the monitor must be turned off before hand... otherwise, it depends on what rough model of Mac mini you have.... Intel Mac Mini or one of the newer Apple Silicon (M1 or M2, M3??) Mac Minis

you could try resetting the smc/pmu.....and of course, having a bad HDMI adapter cable cannot be ruled out either....it should support HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2, so if the one you have now doesn't work, try getting a different one....

  1. not all HDMI cables are created equal. This is frustrating as can be! When I bought a new display a couple years ago it didn’t come with a cable but I had several HDMI cables since we’ve had a collection of game consoles and TV boxes over the years. I tried 3 different cables before I found one that worked, but each of them worked with other devices connected to my TV
  2. in the end I found that DisplayPort was the better choice for my Mac mini.
