My Apple Pencil (USB-C to Pencil Adapter) shows as “connected” to my iPad (10th Generation) but does not work.

I’ve tried, several times, the suggestion to remove the Apple Pencil, reboot, and re-pair the pencil. The pencil shows as “Connected” on the Bluetooth screen. Any suggestion to get this working?
