After updating MacBook 14 M1 from Ventura to Sonoma, SD card reading time went from 0sec to 4min.
No clue why. The card is SanDisk Ex/Pro 1TB.
As soon as I turn the computer on, or restart, there is no card showing and the Disk Utility is not loading if the SD Card is mounted. After 3-4min everything runs perfectly: 4K HDR movies play smoothly, big files indexed etc.

Seems like it may be a Sonoma bug since I was assisting another user who actually tested the transfer rates with a clean install of Sonoma while Ventura transferred at the expected speeds....they were using an external RAID and several USB drives.
Provide macOS product feedback as suggested by @leroydouglas. Maybe if Apple gets enough feedback they will look into the issue. You can also open a support ticket with Apple support, but don't expect too much from them unless you test with a clean install. Keep in mind Apple doesn't take the results of any third party drive speed tests seriously, so you would also need to show the speed issue using Apple's own software & utilities.

The current stable release of Sonoma including bug fixes, security updates is macOS 14.1.2

I have no issue with the SansDisk SD card but mine are smaller size (e.g. 4GB, etc,)
