Gift buying

I saw this question but I couldn’t reply as thread had ended .

I buy apple gear for clients all the time . Yesterday picked up and iPhone 15 , iPad Air and Apple Watch for a client .

I also purchase AppleCare plus for all three . In my phone settings it immediately asked me to get ready for my new iPhone ?.

It assigns all the AppleCare plus plans to the purchasers Apple ID ( I paid with my AppleCard ), if your buying gifts for other people this can be problematic .

people saying my brand new iPhone is asking for another Apple ID password that’s not me , that other Apple ID is probably the person that bought it for you , even though they never opened it .

im calling Apple today and telling them the gift recipient iCloud email, this only seems to happen when buying AppleCare products .

Apple should have question when buying , is this for you or another person and if so not assign AppleCare plus until the device is setup
