how do i do file transfer for a second time when i get a new imac

when i got my new iMac, i transferred all data to the new iMac. first of all, i had trouble getting the printer driver to work with my old hp laserjet mfp 127. i thought perhaps the new mac is not compatible with the old printer, as the old iMac had some glitches with that printer. so i bought a new hp laserjet mfp 234. same issue, unable to install the printer driver. contact hp via chat, and was directed to someone from so called "Cyber Help Tech Solutions". they said i had malware in the old mac that got transferred to the new mac. talked me into getting so-called AVG antivirus and paid $399+tax for 3 years subscription, which i later found out that i was paying the Cyber Help Tech Solutions for the service. she got MacKeeper deleted and installed the driver for my new hp printer. i felt rather uneasy, and looked up the company, as my mac was running a bit strange. the printer was working, but something else was funny. can't remember the details. google search said the apple products does not need antivirus. the company is not bbb accredited. i then turned the AVG off when i use my new iMac. the hp printer driver disappeared, though i was still able to use the printer when i tried to printer from word documents. i had momentary glitches with my trackpad. all these led me to think if i should start all over by erasing the data from the new iMac and do another data transferring from the old mac with only necessary personal files.

Oh Lordy !! where to begin, lsjl...where to begin....

you could use the free utility/application MalwareBytes to check for spam, phishing, bad things that might have been inadvertently installed.... and NO you don't really need an antivirus program on your Mac, as they tend to make more problems than they solve... *just my opinion though*....Oh Boy, sounds to me like you got scammed by some some company and they got you good... Cyber Help Tech Solutions?? Never heard of 'em in my life... you should be able to run Migration Assistant again no problem...BUT.... first.... you might want to make you have a backup system in place and are using/running it regularly.... Time Machine has been built into the Mac OS since Lion (Mac os 10.7)and is a reliable, easy to use, easy to setup and get going robust system/application for automatic backup of your Mac's data, should you wish to do so....all it requires is an external storage drive of at least roughtly the same capacity as that found in your iMac 24" , Mac formatted, you can use a bigger drive, of course....but it's so easy to use....just shut down your iMac, plug in your external storage drive, and start it up again...then go to Disk Utility and format the drive for use with Mac...Find Time Machine on your Mac, and press the switch to turn it from "Off" to "On", then point it to your newly formatted storage drive, and tell it to do a backup....and it will, it does, it shall do so until you turn it off. Anyways, look into that Malware Bytes thing, it could really help you out, and cancel your subscription to AVG antivirus, the company that makes it should have a way to contact them, so reach out, call 'em and get that happening... and I'm sure you won't be using Cyber Help tech Solutions again, will you?? Sadly, I've found experience is a great, persistent, but costly teacher....and I don't think you'll be forgetting all of this in a hurry, much as you (*and I) wish that you could, and cheaply(free would be nice), it's not happening.... you're anxious to put all of this behind you, chalk it up to one of Life's little lessons and move on ...

Anyways, that's all I have to say....Good luck to you, lsjl and I'm sure we'll meet again...
