To maximize sound output, where is the tiny speaker? front? back?

+1 To maximize sound, you need to use an external speaker system with the Mac mini.

though if it was me then I would connect some external speakers you can connect any 3.5mm minijack computer speakers to the headset connector on the back of the device

and or use bluetooth speakers or airplay 2 speakers
