MacBook Pro 2018 model i5 screen flickers and retains old window data along with a vertical bar

my mbp suddenly developed this issue and ive tried resetting the smc and what not but nothing seems to be working.. does anyone know what to do

You should try resetting NVRAM/PRAM Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support


Plug into an external monitor and compare your results, this would be telling

Vertical issues almost always a fault in the display itself, display cable, or display assembly.



In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"

Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple


Outside the USA

Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

You have a display issue...Vertical issues almost always a fault in the display itself, display cable, or display assembly.


If it was GPU it would effect the external as well.
