won't launch after effects. completely messing with my permissions.

I'm beyond my wit's end. Sonoma has completely screwed my permissions. I have even gone into every single AE file on my computer and changed the permissions - because that's what every "solution" has recommended - and AE (by some miracle) opened once and is now back to not launching again. I keep getting this pop-up before it shuts itself down. How has this not been fixed? People actually need to access this software to make a living.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.1

AE ? After Effects

What you do not say is this a point update(?) or you upgraded(?) from some older macOS which you also do not name...

The first thing I would think off—

Verify your third party app is checked/included in Full Disk Access

>System Settings>Privacy & Security>Full Disk Access

ref: Controlling app access to files in macOS

The current stable release of Sonoma including bug fixes, security updates is macOS 14.1.2

Apologies for not including that information, I was a bit rushed at the time!

Yes, AE = After Effects.

I upgraded from Ventura, and I currently have Sonoma 14.1.2.

I will follow your advice, crossing my fingers.

I see a Dec 2023 release—

  • Clearing the preferences from Startup and Repair no longer crashes After Effects.
