Drop down menu in numbers with figures

Hi struggling to make a drop down list in numbers with prices added so i can easily select each item in the drop down list and add up in total cell . I use numbers for payroll each week and at present have to individually copy and paste each item to enable the total to work correctly in total cell below am i doing something wrong or is there a simple formay to add a figure in same cell as description thanks in advance for anyone who can help kev

Normally it is more efficient in spreadsheets to keep the number in a different cell from the description.


Without knowing exactly what you are trying to, I suggestion having a look at the built-in templates-- Employee Schedule, which is a little like a payroll, and also Personal Budget, which is different from what I think you are trying to do but includes a working of example of a Pop-Up Menu in Numbers (see column C of the Transactions table) and the SUMIF function (column C of the Summary by Category table). I'm guessing you will want to use Pop-Up menu in combination with SUMIF (or SUMIFS) to accomplish what you want.
