Monterey 12.7.1 Display Issue

Since updating my Trashcan Mac Pro 6,1 from Monterey 12.6.x to Monterey 12.7.1, Display-Output via TB / HDMI stops working. Looks like falling asleep, but without a chance to wake the output. Mac keeps running, but the display (LG 27... 880B) stays dark. Only shutting down via pressing & holding the powerswitch, followed by smc-reset and a safe-mode-start (holding shift key...) brings the machine back to life.

Same occurs again minutes/hours/one day later.

Apple, this is very annoying, since I am using my machine professionally for music production.

I tried all these which altogether have no effect on the issue...

• LG display tested - works continuously great on all 6 other older MacbookPros and Mac Minis with DP/TB.

• scm-reset performed

• switching DP from ver 1.4 to ver 1.2 on LG Display

• Same System wet-install from stick

• safe mode

• different User-Account

• different Display (Apple ACD 20")

Apple - please help. I am short about to downgrade to Big Sur...

Update from me...

Opened Mac Pro today after one wobbly working-week of ongoing sleep/wake issues and loss of graphics output. Discovered two loose stainless-steel T10-screws on AMD D500 board! (the one without the SSD Tray). Tightened screws with the help of my iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit, attempted several Bootups - but all with ramped up fans...

• Made appointment with Genius-Bar

• Took "last TM-backup" to external SSD.

• Resettet SMC-controller.

After last bootup, everything without complaints. Even Sleep / Wake works great again.

• Cancelled appointment at Genius-Bar. :-)

One question moves me... I bought this MP 6,1 in 2021 from a "technically un-affine" first owner. I had two years of literally NO (0) issues. Item seemed to be never technically touched by first owner and stands on my desk unmoved since 2021. How on earth can these particular screws loosen themselves?!

So relieved.

cheers, Chris

@BDAqua - This one didn`t work either. Graphics output stopped unexpected erratic few minutes ago inmidst work. First tried to revive it w/o Mac Pro`s powerbutton-method...

• pulling TB-cable from Mac Pro, then

• pulling plug of display AC - waiting 15 sec

• plugging in display`s AC

• re-plugging TB cable into still running Mac Pro

Display says 'no input - will shutdown in a few moments' - Mac Pro still running.

Applied again: powerbutton-method...

This is really annoying, Apple.
