Cinematic mode

I do this all the time, it works. But only when the clip is in a Project timeline.

When using AirDrop from your iPhone, in the export window, click Options and make sure All Photo Data is selected. You'll get two versions: on a .mov and another .MOV. The lower case .mov is NOT going to work. Use the upper case .MOV file, it gives you access to the Cinematic control.

Make sure in Photos when you AirDrop that you set All Photos Data to on in Options. It’s always off for every AirDrop.

Tested it in the current OS and FCP version, and I'm not seeing what's not working. The focus points from the shot are there. I can delete them and rack focus to another object. I find the software a little clumsy, but it works as designed. Are you sure you're using the right file in the folder that's AirDropped?

Both capitalized and lower case extensions have been used since I started as an IT professional 30 years ago. I'd not call upper case extensions non-standard. They've used all over the place for decades.

But yes, I think he's grabbing the wrong copy.

BenB, sounds like you've done more laps around the Sun than I have but I'd say using extension case to differentiate files on the Mac is non-standard. I remember in the BeforeTime™©®, a file's resource fork carried the filetype so an extension wasn't required at all.

The one with the baked in focus has an E file number as in IMG_E4537.mov, and small .mov as Ben said. That might change as the capitalized extension is non-standard.

I meant the use of capitalized extensions.
