USB keyboard not connecting

I have been successfully using a USB keyboard with my M1 Macbook Pro in clamshell / closed lid mode until recently. I disconnected and then when reconnecting it wont recognise my usb keyboard, or backup keyboard. The USB does work with other items, like a USB mouse.

The keyboard also works fine in my macmini - just no longer recognises any keyboard plugged in. Also doesnt recognise it in system report.

The USB is/was running via an USBc- to old style USB adaptor

M1 Macbook Pro running Sonoma.

Are there any resets I can try to get it connecting again? All the hardware works fine in other setups.

On the M1 you can —A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

you do not say if this a Apple brand keyboard...(?)

Third party—if in doubt search the developers website or contact their: Support/Help/FAQ/Known issues/compatibility/updates…
