Virus

Malware was downloaded on my computer (mac air) and tried to get Apple Support help unsuccessfully. Can anyone assist?

Well, now you are telling us something very different from your original post. Please provide us with specifics so we can evaluate what is happening and then respond. I further suggest that you download and install EtreCheck. it is free. Run it and allow full disk access. Then post the results below under. Additional text. It will give us a comprehensive overview of what is going on in your computer.

You are welcome. You likely inadvertently installed something on your Mac that became part of the startup process. Running in safe mode often corrects such an issue. The other posts provided were also possibilities for correcting the issue or at least for identifying the issue if the safe boot did not work. Troubleshooting is sometimes a process of incremental steps.
