Audio editing in Final Cut
I want to edit voice conversation from video clips with an external audio editor. How do I export that audio from the video clip?

XML is just a data information file. Use the Share button in the upper right. In Settings in the first pop select Audio. You can choose to export AIF or WAVE. Don’t use MP3.

You didn't mention which audio editor, but something like X2Pro with FCP can export an AAF file (Advanced Authoring Format) that an audio editor like ProTools can open. An AAF can include "handles," or extra media beyond your edit points allowing for fine tuning and can also maintain FCP Role assignments that get turned into tracks in ProTools. I wish that Logic Pro's integration with FCP was better and have sent Feedback to the dev team.
You could use the export function and select Audio only, choosing the format you want.
There's a Hum Remover in FCPX, too. Personally I've had horrible results, often my results are worse than the hum itself. But yeah, Export window lets you decide between audio, video, or both to export.
Where are you sharing from? You can share a clip from the browser, or you can mark a selection in the timeline with in and out points and export that section of the timeline.
For an excellent introduction to FCP start with Steve Martin’s 60 minute intro. For a more in depth introduction use the Izzy video tutorials. The version is a bit dated but the principles are the same.

I am not needing high quality audio editing. I mainly clean up voice audio from iPhone videos which is not possible using FCP audio editing. Is there a simple editor for this, maybe one I can directly integrate into FCP?

thank you for confirming my experience with hum on FXP. Separately, perhaps you might advise me re FXP.
I create videos from trips and about my family tree. Typically I create videos slideshows using Photos, then edit them and insert videos using FCPX. Gregory's Playlists. However, I have found that the slideshow themes using Photos are clunky and often have blank frames. Can you recommend an external slideshow app that works well with FCPX, and/or an external supplier of transitions that I can integrate with FCPX?
Gregory's Playlists.
I think it's a personal link for YouTube Studio. Isn't this the wrong link?

It's best to create slideshows with FCP.

The link I sent was old and included to give you an idea of the videos I create. I would like your thoughts regarding a transition package with more diverse transitions than what are available on FCPX. I've fixed this link Gregory's Playlists
I used Export XML but got a .fcpxmld file, which is not excepted by the editor. Can I download another way or must I convert it to an .MP3?
I end up exporting the entire sound file from my 20 minute video. Don't see how I can "share" just that clip, or the disengaged audio clip. Thank you for responding.
Nevermind. I figured it out. Thank you so much
Have you tried FCP's Voice Isolation?
I have tried on an earlier FCP but it did not remove all the hum. Will give it another go. Just used Cleanvoice that worked pretty well
