Updating Apps showing old work email account

Hello- I can't update my apps bc it keeps saying to log into my old work email which was the original email used on this phone. I don't see it logged in anywhere and i can download apps fine, but I can't update them. I just got a new phone hoping it would help, but now i have had to redownload every app bc no amount of signing in, changing passwords or whatever will let me just update my apps. This is so frustrating!

iPhone SE, iOS 17

Another thing to do is to check the Apple ID at Settings > [name on top] > Media & Purchases. In older account many users had a different Apple ID for App Purchases. Switching your main Apple ID would not change the Apple ID used for app purchases.

The term "to restore apps" would usually occur after switching your phone and the apps would have to be redownloaded to your new device. They use the term "restore" when transferring data from one phone to another, but the apps are actually redownloaded from the App Store and restoring them to your new device. You would only notice the apps needing your work Apple ID before if there was an update to the app.

Also in the App Store, verify the Apple ID used there by tapping the user icon in the upper right corner. After you redownload the app with your personal Apple ID, it should not ask for your work Apple ID again for that app.

The old apps were downloaded with your old Apple ID. There is no way to update those apps with your new Apple ID. I recommend deleting those app and then downloading them again with your new Apple ID. Unfortunately you will lose any data that was saved with those old apps, but it will now allow you to continue to update them.

There may be other ways to update those old apps, such as regaining access to your old account and entering the Apple ID and Password when it asks for it to upgrade, but that is not a long term solution to the problem and you may continue to have problems managing the apps on your device having multiple ID's. It is also not a simple process regaining access to your old account, since you may no longer have access to that work email Apple ID or a Trusted Device linked with that Apple ID to be able to reset the password.

Thank you- but these apps were downloaded long after I had switched to my personal email. I have been removing them and redownloading every time they need an upgrade for months. And then since I got a new phone every single app pretty much is needing an update and so I have had to remove/redownload all. And then I just know the next time something needs an update it's going to revert to my old work email.
