I can't find my airpods under "my devices" in settings

I just set up my AirPods and they show up under "Find my devices" just fine. But when I check in settings, I can't find the AirPods listed as a device in my Apple ID. I can't find information to know if this is normal or if I haven't fully set up the AirPods.
