Recovery Lock on a Apple silicon macbook

Hey!

Is there a way to activate a Recovery Lock on my apple silicon mac without MDM?

On my previous intel macbook i had a friend set a firmware password for me. It prevented me from booting to Recovery Mode, where i was able to use Safari unfiltered. Im trying to achieve the same thing on my new M3 macbook, not being able to access safari from recovery mode.

There is "Activation Lock" but i can bypass it by entering my apple id/phone number etc.

Recovery lock is exclusively accessible via Mobile Device Management (MDM). Firmware lock, previously utilized on Intel-based Macs, is no longer applicable to Apple silicon devices. While FileVault provides encryption, it also necessitates user credentials to access the recovery OS. Thus, it offers a comparable level of protection, albeit not identical.

As you can see in the image below, with FileVault enabled it requires user credentials to access recoveryOS.

Upon entering the password, the system transitions to the recoveryOS environment.
