how to erase a 2011 10.3 imac high sierra or reset to factory contents

i have an old 2011 imac that still works great that i want to give someone, but i do not know how to set it back to factory contents or just erase my stuff off of it. 21.5" late 2011, 10.13.3, 3.1 GHz intel core 13, memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, graphics AMD Radeon HD 6750M 256 MB. i have no clue how to do this

Create a "bootable USB installer" before you do anything. Instructions: Create a bootable installer - Apple Support


If you erase the Mac without any means of installing its originally installed operating system, both you and its new owner will be terribly inconvenienced at best.


The reason is that Step 7.1 of What to do before you sell, give away, trade in, or recycle your Mac - Apple Support is no longer available for Macs of that age. The reinstalling macOS from macOS Recovery option is gone.
