What is the red dot on the icon on the far left of the address bar when i’m on a website?

What is the red dot on the web site icon on the far left of the address bar when i’m on a website? The dot rarely appears but always on certain sites.

It looks like you may have Anti-Virus installed on your computer and may have to check with that application to determine what the icon means. Also check for extensions at Safari > Settings > Extensions. You can shut off or remove the extensions if you have any there if on a Mac. iPhone is at Settings > Safari > Extensions.


The site that you are on in the screenshot is not a secure site since it is not using "https://". The "s" means it is a secure site, so the icon is most likely telling you that the site is not secure.
