Apple Mail's search function is terrible (how to fix!)

Hey all. There's no fix for this, Apple Mail's search is just terrible.

The only thing we can do is make our voices heard to the product team.

I just talk to support, and they send the more people to submit feedback, the more likely Apple will fix this.

1. Go to Product Feedback - Apple
2. Click on "macOS > Mail" or "iOS and iPadOS Apps > Mail"
3. Fill out your contact information, mark as "Bug Report" (this is literally a bug for me!)
4. Write in the feedback saying Apple's search is terrible. Also give a concrete example of what you were looking for, and what search terms you used. This will help the team understand real search issues needing to fix.

Here is a rough outline of what I submitted. For me, search is always terrible. But it's especially terrible when I'm at the airport, and I can't find my boarding pass when I search "flight". Don't copy and paste this! Write your own experience, so product is forced to hear everyone's voice.

I've been having a persistent issue with the search function in Mac's Mail app; it's just terrible. Whenever I'm looking for something specific, like flight details, the Mail app search never seems to find it, forcing me to resort to Gmail or manually sift through my emails. In contrast, Gmail's search works flawlessly, finding what I need without any hassle.

My most recent concrete search issue: I had a flight to Austin booked by our company's event planner two months ago, and when I tried to find the confirmation email in Apple Mail, it was a no-go. I typed “austin”, "flight”, “atx”, but nothing came up. Normally, I'd use Gmail for a quick find, but my work email is on Microsoft Exchange, so I couldn't. I had to ask the event planner to resend it. Later, I found the original email in Apple Mail, buried 50 emails deep with any combination of these search terms. It's a stark contrast to Gmail's efficiency; with Apple Mail, crucial information is there, but it's like finding a needle in a haystack.
