Unable to update calendars (baikal)

Trying to use the self-hosted calendar server baikal. Got it set up and working fine and connected with Thunderbird client on my laptop.

The account/server adds successfully to my iPhone Calendar settings, but the Calendar app shows "unable to update calendars".

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm using https with LetsEncrypt verified cert and it's proved working on other devices.

Mine seems to be working with iPhone calendar using server address http://IPOFSERVER/baikal/html/dav.php/calendars/USERNAME/NAMEOFCALENDER/

im not using ssl hence the http url - i can create update and delete and it syncs successfully
