How to recover photos from a broken iPhone

yesterday I dropped my iPhone in salt water and after about an hour it stopped working, took it to the phone shop today and I was told that everything was fried from my mistake of not turning it off and the repair would cost about $700 (for an xs max). Now I am looking at buying a new phone but is there anyway I can retrieve my old photos without repairing the phone. I don’t have iCloud setup to my knowledge. Any help would be appreciated!

Did you ever make a backup of your phone to your computer? If so, you could restore the photos that were on the phone at the time from that backup.

Without a local backup and without an iCloud connection, the photos are gone, even if you repair the phone. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I'm surprised that they thought they could recover photos after "everything was fried." Ask them for a quote for just recovering the photos, if you don't care about the phone itself.

The phone repair shop said that it would be fixable and I could get my photos back but it would cost $700
