Apple certainly puts unusual items in settings. I don’t know if this is a new feature because none of the iPads I have owned in the past have ever done this quirky thing. I frequently don’t know what a setting is for (as in this case) because there are no descriptions in settings and I don’t own an iPad Pro manual. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my plea for help. After I changed the setting and while I was typing this, the problem occurred once again. I had planned to reboot to make sure I did it right, but had been interrupted. After rebooting the iPad, the problem didn’t reappear. It looks like it’s working properly now without my having to delete a word that has been highlighted in order to continue. When a word is highlighted now, I can simply delete and retype it or tap and release the captured word. If I have any more problems with this issue I’ll be back. I’m eternally grateful because this problem has been driving me crazy, causing me to have to stop to deal with it, which takes time. If you don’t mind my asking, how did you know how to solve this odd problem? I had researched the internet looking for solutions before coming to post my question without success. Thanks again for your help. ~C.
