screen sharing very slow to initiate

I'm using MacBook Pro 16-inch 2019

When I try to run the built-in Screen Sharing app, the whole process of entering the target details is ridiculously slow. For example, if I enter xyz@ icloud.com, the x takes about 5 seconds to appear. The y takes another 5 seconds of so.

What's happening?

I know but it works well to watch video which generally can't be watched from the UK.

I wonder if this "Hide Me" thing may not be causing trouble. I am not familiar with it, but it looks like the sort of thing that must interfere when you are trying to establish a connection...

Removed.

You have Chrome and its evil kestone daemons and agents. I know that positively kill video applications, I never heard of interaction with Screen Sharing, but I would not put it past them. They are a huge hog of system resources.

The problem is that Screen Sharing's search field is really slow to show keys pressed; I can't see how Chrome could cause that, especially as all other software on my work seems to be working fine.

There are some old things - Soundflower was great, but the only version that worked in the last few years was 2.0b2, you have an older version that is probably not doing anything.

Wow - that dates back a long find. No longer needed so removed.

Rebooted after removing the above but the issue remains.

Thanks for your input, though.

Of the ones mentioned I only have iMovie installed. Are you saying the problem happens even if Chrome isn't running?

Yes, because mostly the problems are caused by these keystone agents or daemons. These run continuously, regardless of whether or not Chrome is running. They may not seem to be doing much, because when they do their worst, it is usually kernel task that shows up as using a lot of resources.

They probably don't do it all the time, but this has been widely reported, particularly in the FCP forum.

I can't say definitively that one thing specifically is the cause, but here are some observations on the report.

FWIW, I installed Chrome for two reasons. One, to help those who use it as their default browser. Two, to see if Chrome is really as much of a resource hog as claimed by many on ASC. Although it tends to use more resources than Safari, it doesn't seem to be much different than Firefox (my default) or other browsers.

Just my two cents. :)
