Yes, because mostly the problems are caused by these keystone agents or daemons. These run continuously, regardless of whether or not Chrome is running. They may not seem to be doing much, because when they do their worst, it is usually kernel task that shows up as using a lot of resources.

They probably don't do it all the time, but this has been widely reported, particularly in the FCP forum.

I can't say definitively that one thing specifically is the cause, but here are some observations on the report.

You should uninstall NordVPN. See Public VPN are anything but private

I wonder if this "Hide Me" thing may not be causing trouble. I am not familiar with it, but it looks like the sort of thing that must interfere when you are trying to establish a connection...

You have Chrome and its evil kestone daemons and agents. I know that positively kill video applications, I never heard of interaction with Screen Sharing, but I would not put it past them. They are a huge hog of system resources.

There are some old things - Soundflower was great, but the only version that worked in the last few years was 2.0b2, you have an older version that is probably not doing anything.

I cannot reproduce this.

Just as a test, what happens if instead of entering the address in the Screen Sharing application, you type it in Safari, like this:

vnc://xyz@icloud.com

(Note: doing this is, in theory, equivalent to entering the address in Screen Sharing; I actually always do it this way, and it is working fine for me)

Force restart your Mac by holding the Touch ID button. If it does not help, you need to buy a new Mac or send it to the nearest repair shop.

FWIW, I installed Chrome for two reasons. One, to help those who use it as their default browser. Two, to see if Chrome is really as much of a resource hog as claimed by many on ASC. Although it tends to use more resources than Safari, it doesn't seem to be much different than Firefox (my default) or other browsers.

That's your router's signal problems. You can buy a signal extender (sold separately) to make the signal better, and stronger. Do you move around the house when you use your AirPods?

Final Cut Pro is the one I know well, but it affects Premiere Pro, iMovie and, presumably any app that needs access to the system videotoolbox. It may not happen all the time but how or why the keystone daemons should even need access to the videotoolbox is beyond me.

Hmmm. Just looking at Activity Monitor, no Chrome processes are running without Chrome being opened. I can post a screen shot or you can take my word for it. 😎

It's a grey area. Obviously if a VPN is needed to view content that isn't available otherwise, the site/country has their reasons for the restrictions. I know I don't have access to certain BBC services I could access with a VPN. I didn't mean to make a "thing" out of it. You certainly don't need to apologize to me. 😎

I forgot to ask, what video apps does it kill? I haven't noticed any.
