Sometimes with a recent update iMovie preferences can go awry and cause issues.

Try deleting/resetting preferences. To delete/reset preferences close iMovie and reopen it while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new empty library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Possibly you may need to reboot to set

the changes.  Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.

You are getting a segmentation fault:11 flag as the reason for the termination. I don't know the cause, but It could mean that iMovie is trying to access restricted memory and the operating system is preventing it. Although it was worth a try, tweaking the app is not likely to correct it, as you have found.

I suggest that you contact Apple Support and speak to the techs there. They have the capability of accessing your computer. Possibly you may have gotten a bad install of your OS, and they may feel that a reinstall of your iMovie app and/or operating system is necessary. However, don't do that until you speak with the techs. I'm just speculating here.

Hi Rich,

I tried what you suggested to no success. It seems that after I delete the preference in the box that appears, iMovie opens automatically and still searches for the library and loads the past movies. In a desperate attempt I deleted all the past movies out of my library. Now only thing that loads are pervious attempt to start a new movie-empty movie projects. If i try to open them iMovie still crashes.

Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
