iPad Pro 3rd Gen USBc Connector Position

If I don’t have the USB-C connector rotated a certain way, the iPad does not charge. It charges fine when in correct position, but if I happen to forget to check that I’ve got it in the right piston and leave the power on, I come back to a completely drained battery.

My question is, will this be detrimental to the device as time goes on?

BTW, It’s not the cord, I’ve replaced it twice.

iPad Pro 11 stop charging USB C to USB C I’ve seen so many threads with this issue, but never any resolution. Most end up purchasing a new iPad, which I refuse to do. My iPad should not just stop being able to charge, all of a sudden, with the actual Apple charging block and cable. Recently, I’ve also gotten issues charging with USB-A to C as well. I’m currently at IOS 17.5.1. Has there been any resolution to this issue? [Edited by Moderator]

iPad Pro 11 M2: stopped charging via usb c 2 days ago … unless using original Apple charging block For six months, all cables or charging blocks worked.. until 6/22/23. Apparently, after a recent iOS update, the iPad refuses to accept power from anything not plugged into the original charging block. This iPad is used in many locations around the house where 6-10’ cables are needed, some of them requiring plugging in to a multi USB block or a handheld portable battery source, as AC outlets are unavailable or the original block doesn’t fit or would require an extension cord. Also there is need to charge while traveling in a car. When traveling or outdoors it seems a portable AC power supply (Jackery?) may be needed in order to use the original charging block. AppleCare was not aware of the problem and after TSing over the phone, the solution provided was that the original official Apple cable needed to be used. To clarify, the abrupt limitation is not with the cable but the charging block, at least in this case. (dashing to cancel an order for 8 new Apple 10’ cables) Another observation is that when using a USB-C hub to connect other peripherals, the OS detects the non original power source and pops a message acknowledging the connection, but warning it won’t charge. If the original power block is used to feed into the hub, then the iPad charges normally without the warning. That warning doesn’t display when connecting directly from the charging block to the iPad. The message only appears when going through a hub. This may be a hint that the issue is not caused by hardware, but a choice made by the operating system. Thank you for any other ideas to work around this problem. ps: late 2022 iPad Pro with M2 .. generation # is not noted in system settings or my devices .. maybe a 4 or 6?
