how to fix maps using GPS in my care inconsistently stops working; says no internet

When this happens, I get message there is no Internet. I don’t have Internet in my car that I know about. When maps doesn’t work in apple play it doesn’t work on iPhone either. So what does this mean? I talked to Apple Care Agent about this. She had not heard about this happening before. I spoke to service dealer about my car. He said he could check it out. Possibly may need software upgrade. This takes about an hour and costs over $120.00. Sometimes. Any ideas how to fix this?

I am using maxpro 15. It replaces my 6+ iPhone I had for 7 or 8 years. I had in past few months same problem and now

I have problem on the new phone.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue where the GPS navigation through Apple CarPlay on your car's system intermittently stops working and displays a "no internet" message. This can be quite frustrating, but there are a few things you can try before going for the software upgrade or service dealer check.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you might consider:

  1. Ensure that your iPhone has a stable internet connection. Sometimes, connectivity issues on the phone can affect CarPlay's performance. Try restarting your phone or toggling airplane mode on and off to reset the network connections.
  2. Disconnect and reconnect your iPhone to CarPlay. Sometimes, resetting the connection can resolve temporary glitches. Also, check if there's any debris or dust in the USB port of your car or on the charging cable that might hinder a proper connection.
  3. Ensure that both your iPhone's iOS and your car's software are up to date. Software updates often include bug fixes that could resolve issues with CarPlay.
  4. Sometimes, signal interference or obstructions can affect GPS signals. Try using CarPlay in different locations to see if the issue persists.
  5. Sometimes, network settings on the phone can cause issues. You can reset them by going to Settings > General > Transfer & Reset > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Keep in mind this will reset Wi-Fi networks and passwords, so make sure you have them handy.
  6. If none of these steps resolve the issue, visiting your service dealer might be necessary. They can perform diagnostics and check if there's a need for a software upgrade or if there's a hardware-related issue causing the problem.

Before opting for the dealer's service that incurs a cost, you might want to exhaust these troubleshooting steps or even consult with another dealer or specialist to get a second opinion on the matter. It's also beneficial to keep track of when and where this issue occurs as that information can be helpful during diagnostics.

Thanks for these instructions. I have a some questions before I try this.

  1. When you say stable Internet connection what does that mean in the car? Apple play does work. Bluetooth also works. Also this issue is intermittent so sometime I get GPS and maps working just fine.

2 as for ios. This iPhone I bought 6 days ago. I have upgraded the system twice already. The latest one is 7.2. As

far as the car’s software is concerned, how do I know if it is up to date?

3 I have a brand new expensive new cord so I wouldn’t think that would be an issue would it?

4 could bluetooth be interfering? Never did in the past.

5 do you think I can delete maps and reinstall it? would that help.

6.Should I go thu these steps only when I have a problem with maps not working or does it matter if I go thru the steps when it is working ok? BTW it is not a situation where it is working and then it stops while I am

driving. It happens after I hav sopped the car for awhile then get back in the car and plug it in and start car play.

Since it works most of the time and then it doesn’t Why the inconsistency?
