I noticed that whatsapp is accessing my photos at different times without me using whatsapp at that time, no notifications and nobody sent me any photo, is this normal?!

Comprised, as in security issues? Doubtful. Meta is too big a company to risk a security scandal. However when you sign up with most social media sites, it does ask for permission to your photos so yeah, it may be legitimately accessing them.
Again, you may want to contact them and ask why this is happening.
You will need to contact WhatsApp for help with their software, this is not an Apple product.

I have just sent them the question but i was just wondering if this is happening to everyone or not , and i didnt mean meta is compromising my phone,
i meant if my phone is being compromised by anybody and he can control it
