AirTag disappeared from FindMy on my phone and was making a noise so I assumed it needed a new battery. I replaced it and did the reset thing removing and replacing the battery about 20 times waiting for the different sound to happen but it never came. I’m not sure what to do next?
Are you using a CR2032 with a bitter coating? I've tried replacing my AirTag with a Duracel battery with the coating and my AirTag isn't working either. Looking at Apple's documentation it suggests finding CR2032 with bitter coating that explicitly state they are compatible with AirTags.
Look for packaging that states "Compatible with Apple AirTag". Some CR2032 batteries with bitterant coatings might not work with AirTag or other battery-powered products
