When exporting original photos from Apple Photos and selection "Export IPTC as XMP" does the IPTC data stay in the image file?

When exporting original photos from Apple Photos and selection "Export IPTC as XMP" does the IPTC data stay in the image file or get removed since it is now contained in the XMP file?

Exporting photos from the MacOS Photos app as .heic Hello I recently decided to upload some photos from my iPhone XR(iOS 17) to my MacBook(MacOS 10.15). I connected the iPhone with a cable and imported them using the Photos app on the MacBook. All photos are Live and in the .heic format When I import them to Photos on the MacBook they appear as expected - Live photos, .heic files When I try to export them from Photos however is where the problem happens. If I drag and drop or export one photo it gets exported as .jpeg If I export unmodified original it get exported as 2 files - a .jpeg and a video file How do I get the original raw .heic files that I imported in Photos or am I just stuck with viewing them in the Photos app if I want the to be Live photos?

Can you prevent "Already Imported" photos from showing up on the Import screen in Iphoto? When I plug in my Iphone 12max to my 2009 Imac running El Capitan to download into Iphoto, already imported photos appear, and before I can download new ones, over 3,600 thumbnails of already imported photos have to populate. Sometimes it takes forever. Is there a setting that can be changed to keep "Already Dowloaded" photo thumbnails from appearing on the photo import screen. None of those photos are still on my phone. I use Iphoto on my old Mac to download photos because I don't like Photos on my 2019 27" Imac; it's nowhere near as versatile in my mind.

The IPTC data, that has been added to the original image file, before it has been imported to photos, will stay, when we export the original. The XPM sidecar files are saving the metadata we changed or added in photos, that have not yet been written to the original.
