Different editions of the same book

Is there anywhere that reviews / rates the different editions of the same but variously priced book? Why should I pay more for an edition when I don’t know how/why it is ‘better’?

Is there a way to view different editions of a book in Apple Books? I am looking at a book called ‘Turn Left at Orion’ in Apple Books. I downloaded a sample, and it installed the 4th version (this book has a total of 5 versions that are released every few years). I really want the 5th version of the book. On the books’ store page, it still shows the 4th edition, seemingly without an option to select different editions. Is this due to Apple only having the 4th edition available, or am I missing something. Thanks for any help!
