Switching computers for iphone backup

I've always backed up my iPhone to our desktop computer. That computer is now 12 years old and on its last leg so I was thinking I would start backing up my iPhone to my laptop instead. The laptop is authorized to use my iTunes account but I've never backed my phone up anywhere other than the desktop one at home. If I switch will I lose anything from my phone that has only been backed up on the other computer? Or should everything back up as normal since my laptop is authorized to use my iTunes account as well?

Backups are complete packages, nothing should be lost.

Synchronization however, is a different thing, and may cause any content not available on the Laptop to be removed from the iPhone if its allowed to synchronize. to avoid this, before connecting the iPhone,

Open iTunes, go to the iTunes / Edit menu and click on Preferences.

In the Preferences window, click the Devices tab.

Then select the "Prevent iPod, iPhones, and iPad from syncing automatically" checkbox and then click

OK.

With that done, you can connect the iPhone and back it up.
