print dialog options randomly changed?

No. It's tedious. You set ALL the options EXACTLY the way you want, then save as a named Preset.

It is completely typical that over time, and cloning from a different Mac that the "Default" preset settings might get lost or damaged.

so you set it exactly the way you want, then SAVE as a preset, and never worry about it agin.

the last item on the presets drop-down menu is "save current settings as preset..."

so you change everything to the way you want it, then choose that item off the drop-down menu. Since this seems confusing, It may reduce confusion if you give that collection a unique NAME, so that you can always tell you are using that preset.

so the first one says it is starting from DEFAULT settings, and the second one says it is starting form "last used" settings.
