If I purchase an iPhone 15 in USA, will it work in Australia when I return home?

If I purchase a new iPhone 15 / 15 Pro while in the United States, will it work in Australia? When I return to Australia and move my SIM card to the new phone, will it work? Are there other steps I need to consider?

You should not purchase an iPhone outside its country of use. Here are just a few reasons.

The iPhone cannot be repaired at an Apple approved facility outside its country of purchase.
AppleCare is not valid outside its country of purchase.
iPhones from the U.S. only accept eSIM. There is no SIM card capability.
The iPhone model actually differs between the countries.
