Editing the "Genres" column in itunes music

How do you edit and/or delete entries in Genre. I have many genres that I do not require or there are some that l have created with spelling mistakes. It is very easy to edit all other iTunes columns but for some reason the Genre column is not easy at all. Any help on this subject will be greatly appreciated.

Windows, Windows 10

Use the column browser in the songs view (via the View menu). Enable the Genres column as one of the displayed columns. Select a genre that you want to edit, then select all tracks with that genre and enter your new value. Rinse and repeat. The list of genres in the drop down list when selecting a genre will always contain Apple's default values, but the unwanted custom entries should disappear when you relaunch the app.
