Beats headphones location/ date of purchase

Hello, so this question seems odd but I wanted to know if it's possible to figure out the date or location of beats product using the serial number? I don't have a receipt and the reason I am asking is that someone close to me might have grabbed my unopened headphones and when I found the unopened box in the trash they claimed it was a gift from their girlfriend.
