Distorted sound when screen mirroring to Apple TV4K

Sound is ok when mirroring to the LG tv with Airplay but switching to the Apple TV4k the sound has a delay/echo. Tried a few trouble shooting tips from around the web but still unusable. Using a Macbook Air with M2 chip running Sonoma 14.1.2 (23B92) and Apple TV4k connected to 2 hompod minis.

This also happens with other Macbooks miroring to the same Apple TV
