My contact card showing on husbands phone

My husband uses my Apple ID, we have done this for years, never having an issue. Now the “my contact card” on his phone is my information, our call logs have become one log (instead of separate) and he can not find the text chain between us (probably because his phone think he’s me). How do I fix this? I really don’t want to set him up with his own Apple ID and risk losing information.

if I create an Apple ID for him, will he lose the info on his phone?

Yes, various folks followed this shared Apple ID path, and then eventually noticed the sharing.

Apple recommends against this sharing.

Here are some earlier discussions of disentangling the data of an unfortunately-shared Apple ID:

Apple ID - Apple Community

Stop sharing Apple ID with wife - Apple Community

Set up Family Sharing to share apps and purchases and photo albums and such, as well.
