Transferring Australia ETA Visa Info to New iPhone

Recently upgraded from iPhone 11 to iPhone 15 Pro, most apps and associated data successfully transferred to 15 Pro. An exception is the Australia ETA app - the app transferred to the 15 Pro, but not my visa info (i.e., visa info is still accessible on iPhone 11, but not on 15 Pro). Has anyone found a way of (1) transferring Australia ETA visa info to a new iPhone or (2) importing existing visa info to a new phone using the Australia ETA app? TIA

No, I've concluded that digitally transferring my visa info to the 15 Pro is a lost cause. I did hear from an official in the Australia ETA office that accessing the visa info on my phone is not required since everything is digitally linked to my passport - they'll scan my passport upon arrival and their system will automatically pull up my visa info. I do plan on taking a hard copy as a backup. Hope this helps . . .

The Department of Home Affairs says this in their advice at the page called: Subclass 601 Electronic Travel Authority:

Your ETA is electronically linked to the passport you used to apply for your ETA. You must enter Australia using the same passport.

They also have a link to here to check your ETA visa and, not doubt, to print it off.

Use the smart gate to scan your passport when you arrive.

Bring a good hat. It's mid-summer here 😃

Sorry, I discovered that in my third reply in this thread, this one:

"Argh...the mystery deepens.

I wish I could help you, but I'm afraid my knowledge of this app is inadequate.

The only thing I found (and maybe you can try to explain your problem, and/or ask who you can contact) is this support page, which includes a Live Chat button, on top right corner."

I forgot (my fault) to write the link:--> https://visa.govassist.com/australia?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAtOmsBhCnARIsAGPa5ybOjpFbyaMVKrM2FTVYErlDmxlFS2SxqoeeMrIrKwSQVW_tex0YibIaAu6aEALw_wcB

I don't know if they can really help you, but I'm not sure that you already contacted (chatted with) them at that specific link.

What did they say?

I am not at peace until you confirm that you have also tried this path, and please keep me informed, also so that your investigation can be of help to others.

Thanks

Giulio

Thank you for the suggestion, but this is apparently not an app issue since my wife just made the exact same upgrade (11 to 15 Pro) this afternoon and the Australia ETA information transferred perfectly for her. All of the applicant, application, and visa data is readily available on both her old and new phones and the only discernible difference in the upgrade process was that we upgraded her phone today and my phone was updated a couple days earlier.

Is there a recommended procedure for manually transferring data between two phones to address the missing data issue on the 15 Pro?

Hi Aubie486,

Well, if the two iPhones 15 are running the same/latest iOS version (now 17.2), and if you used the same transfer method, that's really weird, I'm out if ideas. Not knowing that 3rd party app, this is why I suggested contacting the app developer, perhaps investigating whether there are particular/specific app's settings to be checked on your old iP11 models, and/or whether it is safe to uninstall/reinstall the app manually.

Hello PG - thanks again for your responses. "Really weird" is a good description! All four phones are running 17.2 and (per your recommendation) I did try contacting the developer using the link found for the app in the App Store, but the link is broken. I've also reached out to Australia ETA using a support link provided in the installed Australia ETA app. SInce it appears focused on questions or problems that arise when using the app to apply for a visa rather than technical issues with the app itself, I'm not sure that any help will be forthcoming from that inquiry. To further emphasize the weirdness, I've just noticed that neither of our old phones include the Australia ETA app in the list of apps found on the Background App Refresh tab (Settings>General>Background App Refresh), but her 15 Pro does include the Australia ETA and mine does not.

I also changed from IPhone 11 to 15 Pro and lost the Australia ETA visa data. The app transferred but not my visa info. You can imagine my surprise when I tried to open the app when checking in for a cruise. Thankfully, I had a copy of the visa#. Shouldn’t be a problem for the Australian authorities since the visa is tied to the passport but still aggravating. Curious glitch though…
