PNG transition on layer above main timeline help

When adding transition effects to a PNG layer above the main timeline, it does this weird thing where it's trying to find something to transition to/from before and after the clip, and it takes the entire segment on the main timeline and adds it to the transition effect. It doesn't do it on all transition type effects, but for some of the movement and objects transitions it does. See Link below.

Why does it do this and how do I fix it?

Are you using an actual Transition? Or a Title "adjustment layer"? Is what you're using a standard FCP template or third party? And what is it called?

If I had to guess, I would say you're actually using a Title/adjustment layer and if so, then the "Title Background" in the template captures everything below the title in the storyline and applies its effects to it...

One way to keep that from happening is to use a Compound Clip of your graphic and the template(s) used to create the effect. That should isolate the animation to just the PNG...
